LEAD SPANISH TEACHER, KINDERGARTEN AND PRESCHOOL
Hi my name is Ms. Monica and I was born in El Salvador, a small country in Central America.
I live in McKinney with my husband Jose Carlos and my daughter Isabella, who is the center of our universe.
I graduated from Colegio San Francisco with a Major in Mathematics and Physics, which I strongly believed to be my calling at that time. However, soon after graduating I realized that I loved working with children, and that it was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
I started here at the Musical Arts Schoolhouse in 2009. I enjoy working with our students because it amazes me to watch them learn, grow and develop the skills they will need to succeed in life. The curriculum here for the Spanish program is unique – and I incorporate many active learning and developmentally based strategies to help young children be successful learning and retaining foreign language words and phrases, in conversation and simple written form.
One very important part of the Spanish program here at MAS is that I get to see each homeroom class EVERY DAY for Spanish! This is an amazing gift when learning a language, and is part of what makes our program so successful.
I enjoy spending time with my family; we love to travel especially abroad, because it gives us an opportunity to learn about different cultures. I also enjoy yoga, going to movies, cooking and our “Evening Family Walks” that of course include our dog Paco.
